[ARCHIVED] Library events for adults in October

October 1 at 7:00 p.m.:  Disney Ate My Children! The Magic Kingdom’s Hidden Messages about Love and Life.  Central College Professor Ashley Scolaro will talk about why we should be mindful about messages in children’s films, and how to talk to children about those messages. All ages welcome, but material is most appropriate for those high school age and older.  Held in the Library Meeting Room.

October 8 at 7:00 pm:  Culture Night: Canada featuring Myriam Gray. Learn about the culture of Canada from a native, and sample authentic food.  This program will be held in Room 206 at the Community Center.
October 12-October 21:  Friends of the Library Book Sale in the Library Meeting Room.  Books for all ages will be available for the donation of your choice.  The book sale is restocked daily, so come early and come often!
October 15 at 10:30 am-12:30 pm and 1:00-3:00 pm:  Free Photo Digitizing.  Do you have old photos and documents stored in boxes?  Bring them to the library to be digitized and preserved for future generations.  Once items are scanned, they will be saved to your flash drive.  Registration is required - you will be contacted with a confirmation of your 30-minute time slot after registering.  Held in the Library’s Heritage Room.

October 18 at 10:15 a.m.: Genealogy Club will meet in the Heritage Room.  

October 24 at 7:00 pm.:  Exploring Retirement.  Designed to help answer questions for those who are nearing the transition to retirement, including Social Security Basics, Estate Planning, and the Realities, Psychology and Phases of Retirement.  Held in the Library Meeting Room.

Oct. 25 at 12:00 noon:  The Brown Bag Book Club will discuss I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai in the Library Meeting Room.  Bring your lunch and bring a friend!

Oct. 30 at 6:00 p.m.:  American Sign Language class. An 8 week course of introductory classes will be held in the Library Meeting Room on Tuesday nights beginning Oct. 30. The classes are intended for ages 14 and older.  Call the library to register or sign up online at
