As community leaders, one of our most important tasks is to be good stewards of the financial resources that you provide and to make good long-term decisions or investments that will benefit the community. Many of the opportunities we have today are the direct result of good decisions that were made by past leaders.
Today, we are challenged with a difficult issue. Our Community Center has served us well for many years, but has reached a point where it will require a significant investment to renovate. In order to be responsive to our citizens, we have established a Community Center Assessment Committee to evaluate the facility’s utilization. The current organizations that are housed in the facility are the City of Pella’s Art and Recreational Department, Union Street Players, Senior Meals, Crossroads, and the Clothing Bank.
As part of this evaluation effort, the Committee will seek input from you so that their recommendations will mirror the desires of the community as a whole. It is your input that I am writing about today. The Committee has developed a quick survey that is now available on the City of Pella website www.cityofpella.com or by using the link provided below. Printed copies are also available at City Hall, the Community Center, or in the Library for those without internet access. You can return it along with your City utility payment, or drop it off at any City Department. The deadline for completing the survey is July 31, 2015.
This is an important decision that may affect how the City offers services in the future. Please take a few minutes to complete and return this survey.
We really want to hear from you!
