Info Windmill Pink Tulips 2012.jpg

The City of Pella is participating in the America In Bloom National Awards Program. In the Summer of 2014 our Community will be evaluated in 6 criteria by experienced judges! The entire City is included: Residential, Commercial, Municipal, Schools, Institutions, and Historical Sites. The 6 categories include: Floral Displays (pots, hanging baskets), Landscaped Areas, Urban Forestry, Environmental Efforts, Heritage Preservation and Overall Impression.

Pella’s 2014 judging dates will be July 14th and 15th. This is a great opportunity to gain national recognition for Pella by showing off the beauty of our City. How can you help? Pick a category or two from those listed above to focus on for your business, school, institution or home. Tell everyone! Help us publicize the event, the more community-wide participation the better. More information will be coming soon!

What is America in Bloom? America in Bloom began in 2002 and was started by a group of floriculture businessmen to help the industry. The program is patterned after French, British and Canadian programs. It is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization run by volunteers (board, judges, staff, citizens). To date nearly 200 communities have participated in the program in 40 states. Visit www.americainbloom.org for more information on America in Bloom.
