The City of Pella offers many ways to get involved in the community. Opportunities vary by season, but we can always use the help of those in the community who want to give of their time. Long-term Opportunities
Recreation Program Coaches
The City's recreation programs rely on volunteer coaches to train and mentor youth. Pre-season clinics are provided to coaches to enhance knowledge of the game and provide
Time Commitment: 2 to 3 hours per week for 8 weeks
Dates Needed: Soccer and Flag Football run mid-August to early October Basketball runs November to December for Boys and January to February for Girls
Skills: Basic knowledge of the game; Ability to work with children
Background Check: Required
Art Center Volunteers
Time Commitment: As much as desired
Dates Needed: Varies
Skills: Basic knowledge of various art media; Ability to work with children
Background Check: Required
Tulip Planters
Time Commitment: As much as desired
Dates Needed: Mid October - mid November
Skills: Ability to stoop and squat for extended period; Willingness to get dirty
Background Check: Not required
Library Volunteers
The Pella Public Library has several volunteer opportunities. Time commitments and necessary skills vary. If you are interested in volunteering at the library, please contact Library Director Mara Strickler via email Mara Strickler or at 641.628.4268.
Donations
Donations of supplies and money are always welcome. Scholarship and trust funds are in place and utilized for various City programs. A current Art Center supply list (PDF) is available . Please recycle! The Art Center instructors are highly creative individuals and can turn anything into art!
